FORCED FROM THEIR HOME

In the days when social contacts among firemen were closer than they are today romance was of more than passing interest.  Such was the case when Lieut. Samuel Dodd prepared a home for his bride opposite Engine 20s, across the street on Sunset boulevard.  The intention was to take up occupancy of the cottage immediately after the ceremony.  While this was in progress, however, fellow firemen gained entrance into the house and completely redecorated it.  They gave plenty of attention to the outside decorations as well.  When the happy couple returned from the church they found the street filled with well wishers who curiously awaited their reaction to the efforts just made.  So profuse were the arrangements and so many were the articles symbolic of married bliss the couple was compelled to take up temporary quarters in a downtown hostelry until such time as the rooms could be cleared and the placards removed.
