Lechert, 39, was pulling 50' of 1" booster line
 at a grass fire  in a vacant lot at 18557 Saticoy St. 
when he collapsed and died of a heart attack.

Fireman Andrew A. Lechert


On October 26, 1949 at 3:30 p.m., Engine Company 73 responded to a grass fire in a vacant lot at 18557 Saticoy Street, west of Reseda Boulevard in the San Fernando Valley.  Fireman Andrew A. Lechert, 49, worked with his crew pulling 50 feet of once-inch booster line.  Lechert was pulling hose when he collapsed and died of a heart attack, despite resuscitation efforts by rescue 39.  Lechert was survived by his wife Dorothy.

ANDREW A. LECHERT ----Fireman on active duty at Engine 73B passed away October 26, 1949.  Born November 30, 1898, at Chicago, Illinois. Appointed to the Department October 17, 1928.  Services held October 29, 1949, at the Praiswater Funeral Home, Van Nuys, California, under the auspices of the Relief Association with Chaplain Joseph R. Hoffmann officiating.  Internment in Oaklawn Cemetery, Chatsworth, California.
