______

Former Fire Horse Ran
                         When Fire Bell Rang

______

Forgetting that he was no longer the honored horse of the Los Angeles fire department but merely a common livery animal, a horse owned by Chris Christensen responded to the fire alarm last evening by tearing loose form a hitching post and running down town.

The horse had been engaged by Dr. H. P. Shattuck.  While the doctor was visiting a patient on Seventh avenue the fire bell rang calling the firemen to the February meeting.  The horse hearing the bell began to rear and plunge and before he could be caught had freed himself and started down town.

He dashed down Stone avenue across Congress street and narrowly missed an automobile.  The runaway was caught in front of Kitt's store.  No damage was done to either the horse or the buggy.   The horse was one time used by the chief of the Los Angeles fire department.
