Hose Company No. 7
1908 Auto Vehicle "Tourist"
Built in Los Angeles

'This picture is the original Fire house of "City of Hollywood" as annexed in 1910 with Tourist Auto, which at that time was the first piece of automobile fire apparatus in L.A. Fire Dept.
After taken over by L.A.F.D. it was designated Hose Co #7 and the old building had originally been a church.
When Eng. Co #27 was established in 1912, Hose Co #7 was abandoned.
At the time of Annexation it was necessary to retain the former Hollywood Fire Chief (Joe Shill) to drive, as we had no one at that time who could drive an automobile.'

Circa 1910

This was the Hollywood Fire Department at the time of consolidation with Los Angeles in 1910.

The crew shown in the picture are all LAFD men.  The lieutenant standing on the right running board is Jack Atwell who was sent to Hollywood to take charge.  He later retired as an Assistant Chief.

The apparatus is a Tourist hose wagon built in Los Angeles.  Later assigned shop number 35, this was the first LAFD motorized apparatus.
